In 1984, Gary Numan set up his own label, Numa Records, after parting ways with his previous label, Beggars Banquet. The move signified the beginning of a new period in Numan’s career, where he was free to experiment and take his sound in a new direction.
The first album to be released during the Numa Years was Berserker, which represented the shift in Numan’s sound as he moved toward a harder-edged digital aesthetic, while still honouring the analogue textures of his earlier work. The album not only showcases Numan’s creative growth but also celebrates his ability to push boundaries and bring listeners on a captivating musical journey. This new remastered and expanded 2LP edition features the original album plus selected bonus tracks, while the deluxe 4CD edition includes the original album along with bonus tracks, extended mixes from B-sides, and Numan's live album White Noise, recorded during the Berserker Tour, showcasing his dynamic performance.
The re-release of Berserker signifies the beginning of The Numa Years retrospective and represents just the first step in a broader exploration of this era.
